--Scene 1: Home--
In a glooming evening a girl stands against a window with a serious face at the living room. The house is so quiet as if the air has been squeezed out. Tick-tock, tick-tock, only sound of clock can be heard, yet thunders outside become clearer. She gazed at the dark sky, worried that the bad weather might worsen the tough moment she is going through now. Her mother was terribly ill. She must take care of her and also her mother’s company. Ever since her mother luckily benefited from winning the lottery money for four times to prevent the shaking film from bankrupting, she has been having terrible headaches.

(A woman screams)

Sabrina! Help me. Turn it off right now please! Be quiet!

(Scream)

SABRINA: Oh mommy…no...Here come the voices again. Don’t worry mommy. I’m com…

(A woman rushes into the living room with her hair in a mess. And she keeps sobbing and whispers to herself.)

SABRINA: Mommy! Why aren’t you staying in your room? I’ve told you that you must take a rest in bed.
MOTHER: I can’t…can’t bear it any longer… Please turn the voices off. Help me. Help me.  (Sobbing)
SABRINA: Calm down! Calm down! Listen to me! I know you are hearing the voices again, but I have heard nothing but the clock and the thunder outside.
MOTHER: No! It’s the conversation! They’re talking right now!

(She gazes toward the ceilings)

SABRINA: Who? Who’s talking? Tell me mom. Mom!?
MOTHER: Oh, I don’t know! It’s someone, somewhere maybe.

(She looks through the room as if she is looking for someone or something.)

MOTHER: It’s the invisible one that told me the number.

(Still wonder for something at a corner.)

SABRINA: What? What number?
MOTHER: Or another one that helped me get money. That’s what they said. I promise I didn’t mean to overhear them talking about the number. But I bought the lottery! I needed money! (Gaze back at ceilings again.)
SABRINA: Mommy! What are you talking about? Maybe you should go back to……

(Suddenly there comes a blackout.)

(Scream)

SABRINA: Mom, that’s ok. Don’t be scared; it’s just an outage. Let me help you to your room.

(Outside the window it lightened and followed by horrible thunders, one after another. The thunders seem so close to their house as if it were thundering upon the house.)

MOTHER: No…No… It can’t be…Sabrina don’t go there! Don’t you go out of this house!
SABRINA: Mom! What happened? I can’t see you! Where are you?
MOTHER: Don’t! Please! Don’t! Don’t… NOOOOOO!

(The thunders keep striking outside.)

SABRINA: Mom…

(Suddenly Sabrina felt something wrong with her head. At moments she got blank in her head, and she could hardly hear anything.)

MOTHER: Don’t go! SABRINA!

(Both scream)

(At first Sabrina thought she was struck by the thunder, but she wasn’t later she realized.)

(Silence)

SABRINA: Mom, are you all right?

(Silence)

SABRINA: Mom? Are you there?
SABRINA: Mom, answer me!
The Power comes back now. Her mother passed out on floor.
SABRINA: Mom!
At the same time Sabrina’s brother comes back. Hastily they sent their mother to the hospital.
COTTON: What happened …Mom?
SABRINA: Cot, help me!

--Scene 2: Home--
Cotton stays in the hospital to take care of their mother. Sabrina returning from hospital and now sit along in the living room, murmurs to herself.

SABRINA: What can I do? The lottery…I have been wondering why mother could always win the lottery, but she said that it was her fortune. But now she said something weird…

(Slightly she hears rackets, giggling, and hubbub ---beep- beep-beep…)

SABRINA: Oh…it seems that my dear neighbor is having many guests tonight…

(Seemingly she hears something from a radio.)

RADIO ANCHORMAN: …ience, welcome back to GoldFM92.9, here is breaking NEWS for the finals of FIFA World Cup! Serbia beat Germany by three, won the championship of FIFA World Cup……

SABRINA: Wow! I thought it would be Germany instead. Maybe I should remind Mr. Buzz to turn down the volume of his radio. It’s a little bit loud.

(She moves toward the door, and is about to open it.)

SABRINA: Wait, wait, wait, the Buzz’s is on vacation this week!

(She peers at the Buzz’s house through the window, and gets confused.)

SABRINA: No one there… no guests…It wasn’t the Buzz’s, but they are the only neighbor we have now... could it be anyone turning on my radio?

(Sabrina then goes to her radio, but to her surprise, it was quietly set at the corner. She turns it on check if it works.)

RADIO ANCHORMAN: Klose shot the ball! But he didn’t make it! Now the ball goes back to Stojkovic…
SABRINA: What? Germany to Serbia? The game is still proceeding!? Goosh… I need to take a rest…

(She goes to the kitchen, and leaves the radio broadcasting. After an hour, when she goes back to her radio, she cannot believe what she is hearing…)

RAORMANDIO ANCH: Dear audience, welcome back to GoldFM92.9, here is instant NEWS for the finals of FIFA World Cup! Serbia beat Germany by three, won the championship of FIFA World Cup……
SABRINA: Hum? It’s really Serbia!?

(Gradually she hears little sounds again---beep-beep…)

A WOMAN: NO! NO! NO! Don’t call anyone. I feel I can’t go through another of these terrible times.
A MAN: Mom, stop saying that! I’m right on my way to you, let’s…
SABRINA: Cotton?
A WOMAN: Listen to me, son. Listen to me. I love you my dear.
A MAN: Mom…
A WOMAN: Take care of your sister, and tell her I do love her. I love you two, my children, but you must forgive me…
SABRINA: Mommy…
A WOMAN: And you must protect her! Remember! Don’t let her go out. Stay at home! Or she will be in danger!
A MAN: Why?
SABRINA: Why?
A WOMAN: Oh…son, it’s the voice. I heard it! And I can’t recover this time; those voices wouldn’t allow me to concentrate…It’s painful. I’m going to lose myself!
A MAN: No, mom. I’ll call doctor to help you! Stay there, I’m coming!
A WOMAN: No…no…no…Jesus…Forgive me…Forgive me, son… I must do what seems the best thing to do.
A MAN: NO!
SABRINA: NO!
A WOMAN: Good-bye, son… I owe all the happiness of my life to you two. Always remember…I love you.

(Silence)

SABRINA: Mom!

(Silence)

SABRINA: What’s wrong with me tonight? What are those voices? Oh, my head…No I have to call them.

(Sabrina makes a phone call to Cotton.)

COTTON: Hello?
SABRINA: Hi, Cot, this is Sabrina. Are you still in the hospital? Is mom there beside you?
COTTON: Ya, she just fell asleep. What, anything wrong?
SABRINA: She is sleeping?
COTTON: That’s right. She just took some tranquilizer. Doctor said that she will be fine, so don’t worry. We’ll discharge tomorrow. Are you ok? You sound a little bit terrible.
SABRINA: No…nothing…Maybe… I’m just too tired.
COTTON: Ya…It’s late now. You should have a rest. Don’t worry too much.
SABRINA: Uh… All right… Take care.
COTTON: Good-night.
SABRINA: Good-night…

(Given she felt uncertain about everything; she is too tired to think of it now. Gradually, she fell asleep in the sofa, until one hour later a phone call wakes her up.)

SABRINA: Hello?
COTTON: (sobbing) Oh…
SABRINA: Cot? Hey, hey, hey. What happened? Are you okay?
COTTON: (Boohoo) Mom jumped out of the window. She ended her life!
SABRINA: How can it be!? You said she slept…
COTTON: I thought she did, so I went out to get some food. (Boohoo)
SABRINA: Oh…no…mom...
COTTON: On…on my way back she called me and told me that she….
SABRINA: She…she can’t go through...
COTTON: How did you know it?
SABRINA: I…I…don’ know. I… I…just heard the conversation between you and mom… on telephone. It made me worried, so that’s why I called you…
COTTON: That’s impossible! You called me before it happened! It doesn’t make any sense…
SABRINA: But… I…did…hear that…the conversation…the voice… (murmuring) I… heard the conversation…before it …happened!? I…heard a conversation in the future?!
SABRINA: Cot, that’s what she meant! That’s the voice she meant! She suffered from these voices!
COTTON: What? Who?
SABRINA: Mom…Wait! No… Here comes it again!

(beep-beep…)
